PACT Construction has been awarded two contracts, worth $37.7 million and $11.3 million respectively.
The larger of the two is a contract to build the City of Belmont’s new Faulkner Civic Community Centre.
Pact has also been selected to build stage two of the new Forrestdale South West Primary School.
To be situated near the council offices within Belmont's Faulkner Civic Precinct, next to the council's offices, the community centre will house multiple services.
There will be expanded and upgraded facilities to replace Belmont’s existing library and senior citizens centre.
The city’s masterplan for the precinct indicates that it intends to later convert the existing Ruth Faulkner Library building into a functions centre with adjacent events terrace.
The new community centre will also house a museum to showcase Belmont's history, a cafe, a short-term crèche, and office spaces for community service providers.
The business plan for the centre states that the office space will be a "colocation and ‘hub’ of targeted not-for-profit organisations addressing the current gaps (i.e. mental health, alcohol and drug etc.) in service delivery."
The City of Belmont's website says the project has been partially funded by the federal government and Lotterywest, through grants of $9.7 million and $3.8 million respectively.
Pact’s contract also includes the construction of basement car park facilities.
The company was selected as Belmont's preferred tenderer for the community centre project in November last year.
It expects to complete its work by the end of 2019.
Regarding the primary school contract, Pact says its work on Forrestdale South West will include the construction of eight single-storey buildings, with 180 tonnes of steelwork, over a 39-week period.
As previously reported by Business News, FIRM Construction was awarded the $2.6 million contract for stage one and forward works at the school site in July last year.
