Perth-based Pacific Energy, through its newly acquired Contract Power Group, has secured a contract with Mineral Resources to build a 52-megawatt power station at the Wodgina lithium project.

Under the engineering, procurement and construction contract, Pacific will construct the gas-fired power station with infrastructure designed to allow for expansion to 64MW.

Managing director James Cullen said the project had already begun, with early works well under way.

“At 52MW, we understand this is one of the largest high-speed reciprocating gas power stations in the mining sector,” he said.

Completion and handover to MinRes is expected in December.

The news comes after Pacific announced it was acquiring Contract Power for $90 million.

Pacific confirmed today that the acquisition had now been completed.

The company will now proceed with a renounceable rights issue to raise $21 million for general working capital purposes.
