Pacific Energy has secured a contract to build, own and operate a five-megawatt power station at Beacon Mining’s Jaurdi gold project near Kalgoorlie.

Under the contract, which runs for an initial term of 3.5 years, Pacific subsidiary Kalgoorlie Power Systems (KPS) will build a diesel fuelled station to supply electricity to the site.

Pacific managing director Mr Cullen said commissioning was expected to occur in the last quarter of 2018.

“We are grateful for the award of this contract by Beacon Minerals and look forward to contributing the energy component for this new gold project,” he said.

Beacon managing director Graham McGarry said the company was looking forward to working with Pacific.

“This contract extends an association with KPS which started with the purchase of generator sets from Ken Hall (KPS Executive Director) in Kalgoorlie in 1985,” he said.

Shares in Pacific were off 1.7 per cent at 57 cents each at 2pm AEDT.
