PS to build new high school in Yanchep

Friday, 30 September, 2016 - 13:30

PS Structures has won a $32.6 million contract to build the first stage of a new secondary college in Yanchep.

PS will construct a number of buildings and facilities at the $57.2 million school, which will cater for up to 725 students when it opens in 2019.

Work under the contract includes construction of an administration building, student services and a medical centre, as well as an information resource centre, classrooms, staff facilities, science and technology blocks, a textiles studio, four laboratories, a sports hall and a cafeteria.

Upon completion of the school, the existing Yanchep District High School, which does not have the facilities to meet a rapid growth in student numbers, will become a dedicated primary school.

Education Minister Peter Collier has previously said that the Yanchep area was undergoing unprecedented growth and it was important to build a senior high school for the community.

RJ Vincent & Co (RJV) won a $4.4 million contract to provide forward civil works at the school earlier this year.

The contract win adds to PS’s portfolio of work for The Department of Education, with the company awarded a $28.5 million contract for expansion work at Churchlands Senior High School in April.
