Optika wins national innovation prize

Perth-based Optika Solutions has taken home the top prize at the 2016 Australian Information Industry Association iAwards.

Optika won the national innovation of the year award, and was also a category winner for the big data innovation of the year, for its data analytics platform Akumen.

Akumen, which launched in 2014, is a cloud-based simulation and data modelling tool that can process vast quantities of data. It offers clients a tool to manage, model and represent data relevant to their business at any point in time.

“I am incredibly proud that Optika’s efforts with the development of Akumen have been recognised by the AIIA,” Optika managing director Matthew Schneider said.

“We know that Akumen is a revolutionary product, full of complexity and opportunity, and we are honoured to not only have won our category, but to have Akumen awarded innovation of the year is truly fantastic.”

Chief executive Steve Hannah said the group had been working hard to tell the story of Akumen in a way that made sense to non-technical professionals.

“By removing the technical complexities of data science, we have created a user-friendly platform that allows users to focus on outcomes faster, more efficiently and with a greater depth of insight,” he said.

“We couldn’t be more proud to have been selected as the winner of the innovation of the year award at the iAwards.”

Optika will travel to Chinese Taipei later this year to compete in the international APICTA awards.
