Macoboy chairs CSA Global
Resources industry consultancy CSA Global has appointed David Macoboy as chairperson, to take over from Rupert Crowe. Mr Macoboy is chairman of Vital Metals and has previously chaired Ammtec, Ironclad Mining, Grange Resources and Territory Resources. He has also previously held executive roles with Merrill Lynch, Challenge Bank and Mt Newman Mining (BHP). Mr Crowe, who stepped down as managing director in 2007, will continue to be involved with CSA Global as a non-executive director.
Hely to succeed Lavan’s Gaunt
Lavan Legal deputy managing partner Dean Hely will succeed Greg Gaunt as managing partner when Mr Gaunt moves to the new role of executive chairman in February. Mr Hely has been in the deputy role for the past 10 years, while Mr Gaunt has been a partner of Lavan Legal and its predecessor firms for 26 years. From next year, chairman of partners Dan Mossenson will move to the position of emeritus partner. Mr Mossenson will continue to be part of the firm’s liquor licensing team and to assist clients of the firm. Lavan Legal is an independent WA law firm with 21 partners and, before 2006, had a 120-year history under the names Philips Fox, Lavan Solomon and Lavan & Walsh.
Barminco recruits Stokes
Underground hard-rock mining contractor Barminco has appointed Peter Stokes as chief executive officer. Mr Stokes was most recently chief operating officer at Linfox Australia. Before that he spent five years as president of Linfox’s resources and industrial unit. He has previously also worked as a partner at management consultancy Accenture. Mr Stokes will start as Barminco CEO in February, taking over from chairman Jock Muir, who has been acting CEO since February this year.
Kopejtka to chair Ascot
Former Murchison Metals chairman Paul Kopejtka has joined the board of metals explorer Ascot Resources. Mr Kopejtka will join the company as executive chairman, while incumbent chairman Faldi Ismail will step down to the role of nonexecutive director. The company said non-executive director Robert Jewson would step down from the board.
