Veteran mining executive Tim Netscher will take on the role of chairman at aspiring gold miner Gold Road Resources, while Ian Murray will transition to managing director.

From the start of the 2017 financial year, Mr Netscher will move from a director role to non-executive chairman of Gold Road, replacing Mr Murray, who will take the helm as chief executive and managing director of the business.

“The changes at board level reflect Gold Road’s transition from explorer to mine developer and will continue to ensure appropriate focus on the key value drivers for the business, being the Gruyere gold project development and regional exploration,” Mr Netscher said.

“Along with the previously announced appointment of experienced company director Sharon Warburton to the board and as chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee, it also completes our alignment with ASX recommendations on best practices for corporate governance.”

Mr Netscher also holds non-executive director roles at Toro Energy and Western Areas, and is also chairman of gold miner St Barbara.

He has been a director of Gold Road since 2014.

Tim Manners has also been appointed to the role of general manager finance, while development manager Sam Lau has taken up the newly created position of project director for Gruyere.

Executive director Justin Osborne’s responsibilities have also been broadened to include exploration, business development, investor relations and technical services.

Gold Road shares closed 3.1 per cent lower to 61.5 cents each.
