Former Metropolitan Cemeteries Board director Dominique Mecoy will take the helm at Leadership WA in the new year, replacing Robin McClellan, who served in the role for two years.

Ms Mecoy is a Leadership WA alumni and was awarded the distinguished fellow in 2016, which recognises significant contribution to the Western Australian community.

She recently spent a six-month secondment in the Department of Premier and Cabinet helping relaunch OnBoardWA, an initiative to increase female participation on WA government boards.

Ms Mecoy holds a bachelor of arts, an executive masters in public administration and a graduate diploma in marketing, while also completing the Leadership WA signature program in 2009.

She previously worked as a strategic policy manager for the Department of Agriculture and Food and marketing manager at Perth Zoo.

Leadership WA chair Michael McNulty welcomed Ms Mecoy into the new role.

“With a demonstrated commitment to fostering learning and leadership, Dominique has reviewed public sector leadership and management programs on a state and national level, and is frequently invited to speak on leadership thinking, bringing unique and engaging insights,” he said

“She has provided mentoring support for numerous Leadership WA alumni, staff and program participants and has long been an advocate for everything we do.”

Ms Mecoy said she was proud to take on her new position.

“It’s an outstanding organisation that has helped create, transform and inspire many of us in this state and beyond,” she said.

“As an alumni, I know first-hand how Leadership WA can create individual and collective impact and I’m looking forward to working with our team, our 800 alumni and our partners to continue making a difference on a number of levels.”
