Cliff Lawrenson has wrapped up his tenure as managing director of phosphate and fertiliser-focused Avenira, after accepting the top job at iron ore miner Atlas Iron last month.

Mr Lawrenson, who also serves as chairman of Pacific Energy, officially stepped down from his role at Avenira on Wednesday to take on the roles of chief executive and managing director of the Pilbara iron ore junior, replacing David Flanagan who resigned earlier last year.

Avenira is well advanced in the recruitment of a successor to Mr Lawrenson, and hopes to reach a decision in the near future,” Avenira said in a statement.

“In the interim all operational and marketing matters will be managing by chairman Chris Pointon, and all commercial matters will be managed by non-executive director Ian McCubbing.”

Mr Lawrenson will begin his tenure at Atlas next month.

Avenira shares were unchanged at 12.5 cents each at 10:30am.
