KPMG announced the 12 startups selected to take part in its energy and natural resources accelerator Energise, which runs from today until early next year.
Perth will host seven of the startups, while for the first time another city, Brisbane, will host the five companies.
“We’ve selected the Energise cohort based on feedback from our corporate partners and other experts on how new ideas and technologies can help tackle the industry’s productivity, efficiency and innovation challenges,” KPMG WA chairman Gary Smith said.
“Energise is about bridging the innovation gap between startups and industry – and we believe we can build upon last year’s success and bring fresh thinking to established players, whilst similarly paving the way for startups to work with major enterprises within the sector.”
The program will culminate with a graduation night, where each startup will pitch to investors, with awards on offer for the strongest on the night.
The finalists come from the agriculture, tech, education, food and beverage, healthcare, consulting and gaming sectors.
Of the finalists, a top five will be selected to present to a panel of judges in a public forum in Perth on December 8, with the winning team to receive an invitation to pitch at the Extreme Tech Challenge in Las Vegas next January, plus a prize of $20,000 and prizes from Amazon Web Services and Student Edge, both valued at $10,000 each.
The OzAPP Awards event is part of the West Tech Fest week, which combines content on entrepreneurship, investment and technology with networking opportunities for all entries.
