Sydney-based contractor Interflow has secured a $6 million contract from Water Corporation to refurbish 14 kilometres of wastewater pipes in Western Australia.
Interflow has been tasked with relining pipes in-situ using trenchless technology, starting in Northam, then Wagin and Gnowangerup, with the works expected to complete late next year.
Around 12 workers have been employed for the initial work in Northam.
Water Minister Dave Kelly said the project would ensure the safe removal of wastewater for years to come.
“Relining wastewater pipes is important as it not only helps prevent corrosion and reduce blockages, but it also helps protect the local wastewater systems and the health of the community and environment,” he said.
Also recently awarded was CIMIC Group subsidiary Ventia, with a $7 million construction contract from Main Roads Western Australia for works on Madigan Road in Karratha.
It comes on top of Ventia's $7.8 million contract award from Main Roads in September for construction at Great Eastern Highway between Walgoolan and Bodalin.
