A 50-50 joint venture between Georgiou Group and Brady Marine and Civil has been awarded a $74 million wharf construction contract on the east coast.

The works are part of the stage one Garden Island critical infrastructure recovery project in NSW, and were awarded by a joint venture between Lendlease and PSG Holdings.

Under the contract, the Georgiou JV will construct realigned wharf structures at the Garden Island Defence Precinct in Port Jackson.

Georgiou said construction, which will employ 50 at peak, will begin this month with expected completion in March 2021.

Georgiou chief executive Rob Monaci said it was the company’s largest defence project in NSW.

“Despite being our largest defence project in NSW, Georgiou has delivered a number of projects for the Department of Defence and repeat client Lendlease across Australia over the past few years,” he said.

“Combined with our expertise in delivering marine-based structures, this project builds on our capability in this sector and our experienced teams are excited to be part of such a critical infrastructure project.”

Georgiou and Brady are also currently delivering the Windsor Bridge replacement project in NSW and the Green Bridge and Botanical Gardens Bikeway projects in Queensland.
