A 50-50 joint venture between Perth-based companies Georgiou Group and Ertech has been awarded a $120 million contract for a road upgrade project in western Sydney.

Under the contract, the JV will widen and redirect sections of Northern Road, build bus priority lanes and a three-metre wide off-road shared path for pedestrians and cyclists.

Construction is due to commence in the third quarter of 2018 with estimated completion in 2021, and is expected to create 120 jobs at its peak.

It will be the first JV between Georgiou and Ertech.

Georgiou incoming chief executive Robert Monaci said the company was thrilled to secure another contract for the main road project, after it recently completed a $57 million upgrade of 3.3 kilometres of Northern Road.

“Having recently delivered the upgrade of The Northern Road between The Old Northern Road and Peter Brock Drive, we look forward to partnering with Ertech on this stage and delivering another vital piece of NSW infrastructure to the community,” Mr Monaci said.

In NSW, Georgiou is also currently delivering the M1 Pacific Motorway upgrade, the New England Highway upgrade at Bolivia Hill and the Windsor Bridge replacement.

Georgiou’s announcement follows Perth-based firms Southern Cross Electrical Engineering and Kerman Contracting also securing NSW infrastructure contracts over the past two months.
