GR Engineering secures $50m of work with Tellus

GR Engineering Services has been awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction contract for Tellus Holdings’ Sandy Ridge waste facility, located 140 kilometres north-west of Kalgoorlie.

The Sandy Ridge project is a kaolin mining operation and includes a waste facility. The project received approval from the Environmental Protection Agency earlier this month.

In a statement to the ASX, GR Engineering said the contract, which it estimates to be worth around $50 million, includes the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the waste cell infrastructure, access roads, raw water supply and other key infrastructure of the waste facility.

The work will be completed in two stages, with stage one expected to begin next month and include engineering, design and long lead procurement activities for the works.

Stage two is set to commence mid-year, subject to Tellus obtaining additional project approvals and licences from the government.

GR Engineering conducted the project’s feasibility study and preliminary design work.

GR Engineering managing director Geoff Jones said the company was looking forward to continuing its involvement in the project.

“Delivery of the project will enable GR Engineering to leverage its skillset in an innovative manner and diversity its industry exposures in a familiar location,” he said.

Shares in GR Engineering were up 4.5 per cent to trade at $1.16 each at 2.40pm AEDT.
