Probuild has awarded Perth-based Global Construction Services a $59 million contract for work on the $500 million Ritz-Carlton hotel and The Towers apartments project at Elizabeth Quay.

GCS will supply and install formwork and concrete for the project, with work to begin in January and take 18 months to complete.

The scope of work involves the provision of formwork, concrete supply, pumping and placement.

“The GCS group is pleased to be working with Probuild to deliver this iconic development at Elizabeth Quay, and to continue our successful partnership with Probuild,” GCS managing director Enzo Gullotti said.

Probuild started work on the 204-room Ritz-Carlton in August, with the hotel expected to open in 2019.

Developer Far East Consortium is still seeking a buyer for the hotel, with JLL appointed to manage the sale just a week after the first sod on the project was turned.

GCS shares were 5.3 per cent higher to 49.5 cents each at 10am.
