Global Construction Services has received a $27.5 million contract for work on the first stage of Scentre Group’s Westfield Carousel shopping centre redevelopment.

Perth-based GCS will provide formwork and concrete supply, pumping and placement under the contract, with work to be carried out over nine months starting from the end of March.

“The GCS group is please to be awarded this first stage of work and we look forward to building a successful partnership with Scentre Group,” GCS managing director Enzo Gullotti said.

“Throughout FY17 and beyond, there is a significant pipeline of shopping centre redevelopments planned in Western Australia which underpin our commercial division.”

Scentre has expansion plans for its Westfield Carousel, Westfield Innaloo and Westfield Whitford City shopping centres, with a capex estimate of $1.12 billion for the redevelopments.

Scentre plans to boost Westfield Carousel’s retail space by 47,108 square metres.

GCS shares were 0.8 per cent higher to 62 cents each at 10am.
