The influence of Adrian Fini’s hospitality dream team was celebrated last night, with the two latest ventures by the group that founded Little Creatures Brewing among the highlights at the Australian Hotels Association’s 2016 accommodation awards.

Little Creatures founders Mr Fini, Nic Trimboli, Howard Cearns, David Martin, and Miles Hull completed a 20-year journey late last year with the opening of the COMO The Treasury Hotel at the State Buildings on St Georges Terrace.

The hotel brought with it a new level of luxury to Perth, a standard that was last night recognised with the AHA’s top prize – Western Australia’s best hotel.

The award was one of five won by COMO The Treasury at the awards, which included its Post restaurant being named the best venue within a hotel in WA.

Another of the group’s ventures, the Alex Hotel in Northbridge, which opened in May last year, won the superior accommodation category.

Other highlights of the ceremony included Seashells Hospitality Group chief executive Paul King being inducted into the accommodation industry hall of fame, and Broome’s Mangrove Hotel being named the best regional hotel.

Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa won the resorts category, while the best mid-range hotel for 2016 was Ibis Perth.

Best new hotel went to the Sage Hotel in West Perth, while Fraser Suites Perth won the apartment hotel category and the Holiday Inn Perth City Centre was named best redeveloped hotel.

The AHA said the best wine list at a hotel was at Bistro Guillaume, at Crown Perth, with COMO The Treasury’s Wildflower a finalist in that category.

AHA chief executive Bradley Woods said the awards recognised high service standards in Perth’s hospitality sector and celebrated the dedication of industry professionals.
