Empired wins $9m+ NZ contract

Empired subsidiary Intergen has won a $9 million-plus contract to develop a digital transformation program for New Zealand’s Department of Internal Affairs.

The Perth-based information technology consultant said it would be for an initial five-year term with extension options.

Empired did not give the details of the contract value, except to say the first two years would be worth $NZ10 million.

Intergen is Empired’s New Zealand subsidiary, after it was acquired in 2014 in a deal worth about $20 million.

According to a press release by Intergen, the Department of Internal Affairs controls identity and life information for New Zealand, including, births deaths and marriages, passports, citizenships and transport documents.

“The (transformation) program is charged with putting customers at the heart of identity and life event services, and making it easier for them to access these services,” Intergen said.

“With the development of online and mobile platforms, customers will be able to access the services they require, at a time and in a manner of their choosing.”

Intergen’s role will include providing management tools for customer interactions with the department and a component to keep track of customer identity.

Shares in Empired were up 2.8 per cent to 54.5 cents each a the time of writing.
