Perth Airport has welcomed news that Emirates Group will be adding a second daily flight between Dubai and Perth later this year.

The second A380 service will operate a daily to-and-from service, increasing the seat capacity of the route by nearly 100,000 per year.

Emirates first commenced services to Perth in 2002, pioneering the now very popular connections through the Middle East to an extensive network of global destinations,” Perth Airport chief executive Brad Geatches said.

Emirates is continuing to lead the way, and their decision to introduce a second daily A380 Perth service is an exciting development for all Western Australians.”

Dubai has become a primary pit-stop for Australian tourists making their way to the US and Europe.

Mr Geatches said Perth Airport’s $1 billion redevelopment, which included the new recently opened departures lounge, would have the capacity to accommodate passengers departing on two A380 aircraft at the same time.

“From our new departures lounge, passengers are able to board directly onto the aircraft and Emirates passengers can access their recently opened business and first class lounge,” he said.

The new daily service will begin in August.
