Shares in Perth-based Eden Innovations have finished more than 18 per cent higher today, after the company released the results of a two-year trial testing its concrete.

The company has developed EdenCrete, which improves the performance of concrete mixtures.

The company said a trial by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transport Authority revealed savings due to a reduction in life cycle costs and maintenance.

MARTA also said it would incorporate EdenCrete in design criteria and specifications for suitable projects.

“The field trial was to test the ability of EdenCrete to improve a number of performance characteristics including the concrete’s resistance to abrasive tyre wear, scaling from de-icer chemicals, and reduction of cracking,” Eden said in a statement to the ASX.

“When combined, these characteristics provide concrete with a more effective defence against the ingress of moisture and chlorides and significantly greater durability and longevity.”

The trial report detailed the benefits of the additive.

“The results of lab testing indicate the inclusion of EdenCrete will provide a significant extension of service life to the concrete,” the report said.

“MARTA’s use of EdenCrete is anticipated to extend the service life and reduce the frequency of maintenance projects to keep the parking areas in service.”

The company’s shares finished the day up 18.28 per cent at 11 cents each.

Eden announced a major US contract in August.
