EMCO, BGC win primary school work

BGC Construction, EMCO Building and Adco Constructions are among a number of local builders to have received a combined $48.3 million worth of contracts for work on police stations and new public schools.

Emco received contracts for $11.4 million and $11.5 million for work at the new Wellard and Wandi primary schools respectively.

The two schools were announced by the state government in September 2015, and will each cater for about 400 students when they open next year.

The Wandi Primary School build has a budget of $15.3 million, while Wellard Primary is expected to cost $16 million to complete.

BGC also received a $16.7 million contract for building and facility construction and maintenance services at a new primary school at Rapids Landing in Margaret River, which was announced by the state government at the same time as the Wandi and Wellard primary schools.

The new school in Margaret River is also expected to cater for about 400 students.

Meanwhile, Adco Constructions has won a $5.4 million contract for interior office fitout works on the three floors of the Western Australia Police building on Stirling Street, while Geraldton Building Services and Cabinets has won a $3.4 million contract for internal and external refurbishment work at the Geraldton Police Complex.
