Decmil has been awarded an approximately $79 million contract for balance of plant works at the $400 million Yandin wind farm.

Decmil’s scope includes the design and construction of the civil and electrical balance of plant for the wind farm, including wind turbine bases, access tracks, site cabling, switch room and substation.

The company’s works at the wind farm, which is located around 175 kilometres north of Perth near the town of Dandaragan and is WA’s largest, will commence mid-2019.

Business News understands Decmil intends to employ around 100 people at the project during peak construction.

The Alinta Energy-owned project is due for completion by mid-2020 and is comprised of 51 4.2 megawatt turbines.

Vestas will operate the wind farm, and the contract will be Decmil’s second project with Vestas, following the award of the Warradarge wind farm balance of plant works.

Decmil secured the $72 million contract for balance-of-plant works at the 180-megawatt Warradarge project, located 200 kilometres south of Geraldton, early last month.

Decmil said its forward order book (contracted and preferred) for the 2020 and 2021 financial years currently stands at around $750 million.
