Carbon expands SA presence

Perth-based Carbon Group has added to its interstate presence with the acquisition of Adelaide-based Symes Accountants, its fourth purchase in the space of six months.

Based in Gawler, Symes Accountants has operated since 1986 and has a team of 13 people, including directors Peter Caddy and Hans van Heuven.

Established seven years ago, Carbon has grown from one office in Perth to 10 nationally, and is represented in every state.

It has a total of 150 people, including more than 80 in Western Australia.

Carbon co-founder Nathan Hood said that partnering with the Symes team followed the recent appointment of accounting and tax partner David Block and the launch of the firm’s first central Adelaide office.

“The team at Symes Accountants are very passionate about the work they do, and the service they provide, and I’m excited about what we can do as a team,” Mr Hood said.

Mr Caddy said he could not pass up the opportunity to join the Carbon network, which would help to elevate the firm’s service offering.

Mr van Heuven said his firm always had a strong connection to its local community and local small businesses.

“What stood out to us about Carbon Group is their commitment to their local communities, and how each office works together to help,” he said.
