Local builders Cockram Construction, Universial Constructions, Perkins Builders and Crothers Construction have shared in $37.3 million worth of state government contracts.

Cockram received the largest portion of the work, winning a $23.5 million contract for the redevelopment of the Onslow Health Service.

The redevelopment, to cost $41.8 million overall, includes a new hospital and new facilities for key health services.

The project has been funded with the state government’s Royalties for Regions program and through Chevron Australia’s $250 million commitment to infrastructure development improvements in Onslow.

Work under Cockram’s contract is expected to begin later this year, with completion expected in 2018.

Meanwhile, Universal has won a $7.4 million contract for work on a new fire station in West Perth.

The new $19 million station on Carr Street was given the green light in August last year when the state government completed a property settlement.

Perkins has received a $4.1 million contract for refurbishment work at the Bunbury Police Station, while Crothers has won a $2.3 million contract for the refurbishment at the Central Regional Tafe campus.

Crothers will refurbish the existing canteen and library, while building a new alfresco area in between the two facilities.
