Bruce Rock Engineering buys Geraldton business

Bruce Rock Engineering has increased the number of its facilities in Western Australia with the acquisition of Geraldton-based D-Trans Motor Body Builders.

Headquartered in WA, Bruce Rock Engineering designs, manufactures and maintains road transport equipment, including trailers and truck bodies.

It has facilities in Bruce Rock, Forrestfield, Welshpool and Port Hedland.

The new D-Trans facility will be rebranded as Bruce Rock Engineering Geraldton and will operate primarily as a sales, spare parts, repairs and maintenance service, and support centre.

The former D-Trans owners will continue to manage the business in the interim, Bruce Rock said.

Bruce Rock will gain a further 18 personnel from the transaction, adding to its existing staff of more than 100 across four divisions, which include Transbeam Industries, Bruce Rock Tyres and Mezz Trailers.

Bruce Rock Engineering managing director Damion Verhoogt said the company would be the sole heavy trailer original equipment manufacturer in the area.

“Customer service and product support are key elements in our vision and mission and we have proven in the Pilbara that there is no better way to do this than with a physical presence in the region,” he said.

“This is a key element of our growth strategy, complementing our existing service offering and extending our reach into Geraldton and the Mid West.”

D-Trans specialises in the manufacturer of trailers, truck fitouts, spare parts and fleet hire.

The company also provides EBS and ABS brake testing, fitting and modifications, and completes repairs and maintenance for trailers.

Mr Verhoogt said these complementary services would enable Bruce Rock to provide a comprehensive product and service offering across the state.
