Contracting group Brierty has won a $60 million contract with Fortescue Metals Group to construct a 25 kilometre rail link for FMG’s Solomon iron ore development in the Pilbara.
Preliminary works have already commenced, and Brierty said the project should be completed by the end of June.
Brierty chief executive Peter McBain said the contract took the company’s work on had for financial year 2012 to $215 million, 86 per cent of the company’s target revenue of $250 million.
“The win is a reflection of our acknowledged capability and experience in major infrastructure projects in Western and northern Australia,” Mr McBain said in a statement.
“The project also fits perfectly with the current business plan and increases the utilisation of owned assets.”
At 9:22AM (WST) Brierty’s stock was up 4 per cent, to 25.5 cents.
