Bricklaying robot to build 11 Perth homes

Fastbrick Robotics will put its prototype truck-mounted bricklaying robot into the field to build 11 residential houses under a collaboration agreement with Perth-based builder Archistruct Builders & Designers.

ASX-listed Fastbrick will be sub-contracted by Archistruct to use its Hadrian X commercial prototype to construct the homes using 3D printed bricks, while Archistruct will supply the land and all building services required.

Each house will have a minimum floor plan of 180 square metres consisting of at least three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

“The agreement grants Archistruct the first construction rights beyond the initial 10 homes, with the 11th home to be charged at standard commercial rates,” Perth-based Fastbrick said in a statement.

Chief executive Michael Pivac said the company was excited to sign its first framework agreement for the Hadrian X.

“(The agreement) will ensure the world’s first fully automated, 3D printed brick structures are built in Perth,” he said.

“The agreement also presents a fantastic opportunity for our commercial pilot, where we will demonstrate to the world the capabilities of the Hadrian X.”

Work under the agreement will begin once Fastbrick has finished building its Hadrian X prototype.

Archistruct director Domenic D’Agnone said partnering with an innovative company like Fastbrick would deliver value for its clients.

“The Hadrian X could revolutionise the residential construction space through automation, and we believe it will add significant value to our clients,” Mr D’Agnone said.

Fastbrick shares were 4.2 per cent lower to 6.7 cents each at 1:20pm.
