Geraldton-based Bhagwan Marine has grown its subsea services division with the acquisition of Delta Subsea for an undisclosed amount.

Delta Subsea is a Perth-based subsea engineering consultancy servicing the energy sector, led by David Husband who also co-founded Subsea Developments Australia.

As part of the acquisition, Mr Husband will join Bhagwan as the company’s new subsea engineering manager, with the division to continue operating out of Bhagwan’s facility in Belmont.

“I have worked with many of the guys at Bhagwan over a number of years and truly believe that with their experienced subsea personnel and assets coupled with the largest fleet of vessels in the country, they have the right formula to provide clients with the most streamlined high quality service,” Mr Husband said.

Bhagwan subsea general manager Paul Guilfoyle said the Delta acquisition greatly strengthened the company’s capability as an emerging leader in the shallow water subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) services in Australia.

“I have worked with Dave and his team for many years and I am very excited about the future with what his team brings to the table,” he said.

Bhagwan launched its subsea division in March last year, offering services in diving, remote operated vehicles, subsea surveying and engineering.

Last month, Bhagwan grew its presence in northern Australia after acquiring Darwin-based Broadsword Marine Contractors, a subsidiary of Programmed Maintenance Services, for $25 million.

It included Broadsword’s fleet of 24 vessels.

Subsea Developments Australia was acquired by Neptune Marine Services in 2007.
