HOTEL chain Best Western International has added a three-year-old Perth property, which has changed ownership numerous times in its relatively short life, to its Western Australian portfolio.
As part of a confidential agreement, Best Western rebranded the Quest Ascot Village on Great Eastern Highway in Ascot as Best Western Ascot Serviced Apartments at the start of the month.
The apartments, which includes 36 twin-share bedrooms and 33 residential apartments at the rear of the property now being managed by the Hospitality Inn Group, brings Best Western’s accommodation offerings in WA to 11 in total.
Hospitality Inn Group chief executive Chris Pye was one of the original consortium members that built the property about three years ago.
“Over time it has changed ownership numerous times, some people dropped out while others came in,” Mr Pye said.
He said his share grew from 20 per cent originally to about 50 per cent currently, with the majority of the remaining 50 per cent belonging to Queenslander Sid Knell’s two companies – Prime Property and Central Apartments Group.
“This is the only Best Western in Perth,” Mr Pye said. “And Quest did an excellent job.”
He said the property was popular with people travelling from the country and businesspeople keen to access the airport.
