AusGroup has been awarded two major contracts, one of which is valued at $6 million for further work on BHP’s South Flank iron ore project.
AusGroup has been awarded two contract packages, one of which is valued at $12 million for further work on BHP’s South Flank iron ore project.
Its subsidiary AGC Industries was initially awarded for the fabrication of the RC03 reclaimer substructure in June, with works already underway at the company's Kwinana facility.
thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions Australia has awarded AGC an additional five fabrication packages for the iron ore project worth approximately $12 million, bringing the total contract value to around $18 million.
Under the new contract, AGC will deliver components - including the bucket wheel boom, pantograph and mast - which AusGroup said would create approximately 100 local jobs.
Chief executive Shane Kimpton said the award represents the manufacturing team’s ability to deliver high-quality solutions for clients.
“We have been able to demonstrate time and cost savings through efficiencies applied by our skilled workforce, ensuring production timelines, quality measures and safety performance is top of mind at all times,” Mr Kimpton said.
“Our team is looking forward to delivering this critical scope in support of BHP Western Australian iron ore and thyssenkrupp over the coming months.”
AusGroup subsidiary MAS Australasia has also been awarded a five year contract by Tier 1 Mining Company for work at Newmont Goldcorp’s Boddington gold mine, where MAS will provide maintenance and shutdown support.
Mr Kimpton said the contract cements the company’s reputation as a maintenance services provider to a diverse range of clients.
“Our value proposition and service offering extends beyond liquefied natural gas and construction projects, and this is an excellent example of where MAS can bring innovation and significant value,” he said.
Earlier this month, AusGroup was awarded a three-year maintenance and shutdown support contract by BHP Nickel West, undertaken by AGC Industries.
The work will include major shutdown events at Nickel West’s Kwinana refinery and Kalgoorlie smelter between October and November.
