Appointments at Jones Day, Mainsheet

Advisory firm Mainsheet Capital has recruited Gerard Moody as a director, while global law firm Jones Day has a new managing partner in its Perth office.

An original Mainsheet director in the early 2000s, Mr Moody returns to the firm after holding roles as state chief executive, and national chief operating officer at audit, tax and advisory company BDO.

He has more than 30 years' consulting and management experience spanning corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, operation reviews and implementation of large change projects, including post-transaction support.

“We are very excited to have Gerard join us at this stage of our lifecycle – we have established a strong presence in Western Australia, and Gerard joining us will add to our capabilities,” Perth managing director Maurice Argento said.

During the past 12 months, Mainsheet’s consulting division has completed strategic projects for Atlas Iron, Horizon Power, Water Corporation, Lions Eye Institute, Rocky Bay, Ability Centre and Baptist Care.

Meanwhile, Adam Salter has been appointed partner-in-charge for Jones Day Perth after serving as a partner in the firm's labour and employment practice.

Mr Salter has 20 years of international experience advising clients on labour and employment issues, including the drafting of Australian employment contracts and policies.

He also has more than a decade of experience advising clients on M&A, outsourcing, and cybersecurity issues.

"Adam is highly respected in the Australian legal market," Jones Day partner-in-charge of Australia and Japan, Chris Ahern, said.

"He is a great representative for Jones Day in the region and will be very effective in fostering the continued collaboration of our Perth lawyers with our peers in Jones Day offices around the world.

Jones Day recently announced the relocation of Simon Bellas, a partner in the firm's Global Disputes Practice, from Perth to its Singapore office.

He will join Singapore - based partners Matt Skinner and Zachary Sharpe to further expand the firm’s arbitration practice in Singapore and Hong Kong, while continuing to contribute to its Australian litigation and arbitration practice. 

Mr Bellas was previously based in Singapore while working on behalf of a global offshore contractor, and has since run several construction arbitrations seated in Singapore arising out of Australian mining projects.
