The state government has banned 11 contractors for up to five years each, as a result of the Corruption and Crime Commission’s (CCC) investigation into the North Metropolitan Health Service.

In August 2018, the CCC released a report into bribery and corruption in maintenance and service contracts within North Metropolitan Health Service.

The state government said it subsequently took steps to prevent the companies named in the report from being awarded state government work, pending further review.

The suspensions were mostly backdated from June 27 last year.

Pukete Alexander Projects Pty Ltd and Fox United Building were both banned for five years.

New Zealand Holdings, trading as Westside Fire Services, will be suspended for four years and nine months.

Howzat Constructions, which is in liquidation, and Primed Projects have been banned for four years each.

Axis Fire Solutions, trading as One Fire Group, which is also in liquidation, has been banned for two years and six months.

QED Environmental Services will be suspended for two years.

Old Swan is suspended for one year and eight months, while Starnet and Gowdie Management Group were both banned for a period of one year and three months.

Aurora Project Group’s suspension is set to be reviewed on December 27 this year, after it was banned for one year and six months.

Starnet and Gowdie’s suspensions are to be reviewed on January 17 next year.

The Corruption and Crime Commission began investigating alleged corruption between the North Metropolitan Health Service and contractors after a tip-off from a junior whistleblower within the department in 2014.
