The Hon Alan Carpenter, MLA

'The Challenges Ahead'
THE HON ALAN J CARPENTER MLA

Even before being sworn in as Western Australia’s 28th Premier in April this year, Alan Carpenter was no stranger to the media. After starting his career as a journalist for the Albany Advertiser, he also worked for ABC as a State political reporter and later as the presenter of ABC’s Stateline program.

In 1996, Alan resigned from the ABC to enter the realm of politics. He won a Labour Party state seat in Willagee in December that year. 5 years later he became a Minister. Today Mr Carpenter is at the helm of the Labour Party, 10 years after starting his political career.

Having committed his Government to investing the benefits of our booming economy in the education and training of our young people, providing new jobs and opportunities for Western Australians and expanding economic relations with China, the Premier’s agenda has a strong economic focus.
