David Flanagan

A NEW BREED OF MINER

Since 2004, David Flanagan has captained Atlas Iron’s transition from junior explorer to fully-fledged iron ore producer.

Often being compared to as a ‘young Andrew Forrest’, David is a new breed of a hungry mining entrepreneur whose hard work and innovative visions will see Atlas Iron leave a footprint in the Pilbara – one the community is aware of and one they are better of for having in the first place.

Since graduating from the WA School of Mines in 1993, David has 18 years experience in a variety of mining and exploration roles in Australia, West Africa and Indonesia.

David listed Atlas Iron in December 2004 and has grown the Company from a grass roots explorer to an iron ore exporter in a region typically dominated by multinational mining companies.

Atlas, through access to the FMG rail and port, is the first company to be serviced by a true third party infrastructure agreement in the history of iron ore mining in the Pilbara. The Company became the first Pilbara iron ore junior to move into production in December 2008.
