WA Independent Power Association Overview of the PresentationRichard Harris, Chairperson of the newly formed WA Independent Power Association (WA IPA) will examine the experience of the electricity market in WA some five years on, and
provide some observations and conclusions.Richard will also outline the role of the newly formed Independent Power Association in representing the main private sector investors in the market, and provide an overview of
the Frontier Economics Report commissioned by IPA which challenged the myth that the break-up of Western Power has led to increased electricity prices, underutilized capacity
for Verve and caused financial problems for Synergy and Verve.Richard has more than 20 years’ experience in senior policy and project development in the energy industry in WA. He has been Managing Director of Mid West Energy since
February 2010 having previously been General Manager Development for Aviva Corporation, responsible for the commercialisation and approvals of the Coolimba Power
Station project.Richard’s previous roles include Project Director for the development of ERM Power’s Neerabup Power Station and WA Director for NewGen Power and ERM Power. Prior to
taking up his private sector roles, Richard had a long career in Government as a Director in the Office of Energy, with responsibilities for the early stages of deregulation of the gas and electricity markets.This presentation will be very interesting and will provide excellent opportunities to network with other participants in the energy sector.
