reiwa.com rental listing data for the overall market for the week ending 25 August 2015 totalled 8,178.
This is a drop of 2 per cent over the week and is the lowest number of listings recorded in the market since the week ending 15 July 2015 which was 8,425.
The same time last year, rental listings were sitting at 5,974 which represents a 37 per cent increase from this level.
Looking at the individual sectors, reiwa.com data shows that rental listings over the last four weeks have ranged between 8,150 and 8,450.
This week, rental listings for houses sit at 4,780, a decrease from the last week of 2 per cent and is the lowest number of listings since the week ending 17 June 2015.
Units had a similar change from 3,505 to 3,398 this week, a drop of 3 per cent.
Evidently, tenants are taking advantage of the soft leasing market for an upgrade of accommodation at a competitive rent.
