RECOGNISING the need for a Darwin-based multifaceted oil and gas service organisation, Upstream Petroleum have situated themselves as the first and only oil and gas consultancy currently in the Northern Territory.
Director Mark Paton said the company’s operations now run from Darwin as it was the best situated for providing services to organisations working in the Timor Sea.
“The best place to run Timor Sea operations is not from thousands of miles away in Perth. Darwin seems the sensible place for frontline troops,” he said.
Upstream Petroleum is a hydrocarbon production service company with specialist expertise related to the design, fabrication and management of oil and gas production facilities, in particular floating production systems, and subsea field development.
Prior to forming Upstream Petroleum in 1997, Mark Paton and fellow director Cam Rathie worked closely with all BHP Petroleum’s offshore oil and gas production operations in Australia and Asia including the Challis, Jabiru, Griffin and Skua Ventures.
The company provided operations input and local knowledge to assist AMEC in its tender for BHPP’s Buffalo Operations and Maintenance Manning Tender early this year, including developing the strategies to be applied to crew management and onshore support.
