Proteus snapped up by Tetra Tech

Perth-based privately-owned engineering services company Proteus EPCM Engineers has been acquired by US-based engineering firm Tetra Tech.

Tetra Tech chairman Dan Batrack said the acquisition was part of a strategic push to access growth markets in Australia, Asia and Africa.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"Like Canada, Australia's high growth economy is driven by strong demand for natural resources," Mr Batrack said.

Proteus partners Lachlan Walker and David Sutton said they saw the transaction as a great opportunity for growth.

"It will strengthen our existing capability in the EPCM delivery of projects and expands our capability in water, environment and energy sectors," they said.

The directors said being acquired by Tetra Tech would give the company broader access to an international network of projects and people.

Tetra Tech has 12,000 employees worldwide, 330 offices, and rakes in mining project fee revenue of more than $200 million each year.
