Perth home values continue to fall: ABS

Official statistics released today have confirmed the Western Australian housing sector is stuck on struggle-street, with Perth recording the largest median price falls of any capital city over the past 12 months.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics said today that its housing price index for established houses in Perth fell by 1 per cent over the month of June, taking the yearly price drop to a nation-leading 4.1 per cent.

Housing prices fell over two years ago and have for the past eighteen months and the market has since then been very level. The fact listing prices have to come down to this level to meet the market and create a sale does not mean the maket is in a downward spiral. The only prices coming down are listing prices. I believe the market is in a healthy state and is a very honest market at present. As an office, (name withheld) Realty has had over eight months of strong sales which indicates property that meets the market will sell
