FMG recruits former Exxon VP

Iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group has recruited the former vice-president of global procurement at oil giant ExxonMobil to its board of directors, as it seeks to lift the efficiency of its business.

Jean Baderschneider is a past member of the board of directors of the Institute of Supply Management and was a presidential appointee to the US Department of Commerce’s National Advisory Council of Minority Business Enterprises

She was also a past board member of the Center of Advanced Purchasing Studies.

At ExxonMobil, Ms Baderschneider was responsible for operations worldwide.

“We are delighted to welcome Jean to Fortescue’s board of directors,” FMG chairman Andrew Forrest said.

“Her broad international experience and business acumen will be an extremely valuable addition to our board.”

FMG shares were 1.3 per cent lower at $2.28 per share at the close of trade.
