Call goes out for stadium subcontractors

The state government says there are more than $140 million worth of subcontracting opportunities available for the new Perth Stadium, with a tenders process launched today for a wide range of works. 

Small Business Minister Joe Francis said a website called ProjectConnect had been established by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA to advertise the tenders on behalf of stadium builder Brookfield Multiplex.

Construction works required include tower cranes, form work and concrete supply, rigging, precast walls, beams and planks, structural steel and site security services.

Mr Francis said he expected about 100 tenders would be awarded during the three-year construction period.

The 60,000-seat project, estimated by Brookfield Multiplex to come in $40 million under its $902 million budget, is expected to create around 5,700 jobs in its construction phase, which runs from the end of the year to early 2018.
