Global gold mining giant AngloGold Ashanti has announced changes to its executive leadership team that will see Rob Largent responsible for the company’s Australian operations.
Under the restructure Mr Largent will become a co-chief operating officer, responsible for the company’s Australian, Continental African and Americas operations.
Mr Largent will take over from Graham Ehm, current leader of Australian operations, once AngloGold Ashanti’s $830 million Tropicana project completes its first gold pour, scheduled for later this year.
The Tropicana project in Western Australia is the largest gold development in the state to be completed this year and is set to produce 480,000 ounces per annum for the first three years.
Mr Largent has also been tasked with leading the executive team in wiping $US500 million from the company’s operating cost base within eighteen months.
Mr Ehm will leave his current position to take on the role of executive vice president of planning and technical which oversees safety, business planning, asset optimisation, capital investment optimisation and monitoring and risk management.
He will also be involved in AngloGold Ashanti’s Project One that has set a number of safety, productivity, environmental and financial goals for the company.
AngloGold Ashati’s CEO, Sirinvasan Venkatakrishnan, known as Venkat, said that the restructure, “plays to each individual’s strengths and better aligns our collective work so that we can deliver on our objectives”.
