Australia Minerals and Mining Group has chosen its Meckering aluminous clay deposit as the key supply of feedstock material for its high purity alumina (HPA) project, which will be located north of Perth.
It also regards Meckering as its most advanced aluminous clay project in its portfolio, and estimated it to support an HPA plant for more than 100 years.
AMMG holds tenements over aluminous clay assets at Gibson, Kerrigan and Bobalong, as well as Meckering.
The company said it proposed its HPA plant to be located 130km north of Perth, close to the clay deposit, as it would keep transport costs down.
AMMG managing director Iggy Tan said the Meckering deposit was chosen due to the ore’s exceptional quality, its close proximity to Perth, already-established key landholder agreements and good transport access.
“The Meckering deposit gives the company access to an abundant, low-cost aluminous clay feedstock, which has already been purified and processed by a natural weathering process,” the company said in a statement.
“As a result, the direct ore feed contains very low levels of impurities including iron, titanium, sodium, calcium, potassium and magnesium.”
AMMG’s share price closed unchanged at 7 cents per share.
